Longleaf Materials Research (CAGE Code 9VMH9) is a North Carolina-based materials science & engineering company established in 2022. Our primary mission is to help small businesses and startups access metallurgical and materials expertise. Our M&P team is experienced with materials selection, process development and troubleshooting, failure analysis, materials testing, heat treatment, corrosion protection, data analysis, and much more.

We understand the unique challenges faced by small businesses and startups, and we strive to deliver cost-effective materials & processes (M&P) support to ensure success and reliability of aerospace products. Our company provides on-demand access to a wealth of materials knowledge without the commitment of hiring a full time materials and processes (M&P) engineer or metallurgist. Established companies may need specialized knowledge to accelerate a design cycle or implement cost savings – we can help there, too.

As a relatively new company, our capabilities will be expanding as we grow. Our in-house laboratory has capability for metallographic specimen preparation and examination, and we are currently working to install a high-resolution scanning electron microscope (SEM). In the interim, we are able to offer SEM, EDS, and EBSD analysis through the use of off-site equipment.
